ENVIS is a decentralised system with a network of distributed subject oriented Centres ensuring integration of national efforts in environmental information collection, collation, storage, retrieval and dissemination to all concerned. The centre on marine ecosystem is one among the ENVIS centres setup in selected areas of environment, with a focal point at the Ministry of Environment and Forests. Multifaceted activities, like research, publications, awareness campaigns and open house, undertaken by the centre are targeted to fulfill the mandated service.     

• Creation of a website on Marine Ecosystem

• Quarterly compilation of  newsletter on Marine Ecosystem        

• Identification of data and information gaps in the subject area

• Creation of web-based database                             

• Abstracting services to researchers and real users

• Linkages with other nodes, centres, laboratories and other information sources

• Coordination with the Focal Point for supplying relevant, adequate and timely information to the users
