Workshop on post-tsunami changes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ever since the tsunami, the fishermen of Kerala and Kanyakumari have been complaining of changes in sea current patterns and fish resource availability.

The latest being the spurt in puffer fish population that has affected fishing operations for the last few months along the State's coast. To understand the reality and help the fishermen get a better perspective on the matter, The South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies and Marine Products Export Development Authority, Kochi, will organise a workshop on `post-tsunami changes in fisheries on the lower south west coast of India' on Tuesday.

Scientists and experts from various fisheries institutions , fisheries directorate and fisheries college will take part in the workshop.
